Anne Carol Oesterling Wall, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on August 27, 1934, in Millheim, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Gilmore Lewis and Marguerite Swarm and older sister to Mary Jane Himmelreich and Frederich Oesterling. Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William James Wall, as well as her beloved son John Andrew and her brother Fred.

Anne is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Himmelreich; her children, Jennifer, Bill (Cynthia), Bob (Marlene), Gretchen (Steve), and Adam (Linda); eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews along with their families; and her beloved dog Bella.

Anne graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1952, after spending her early school years as the daughter of a military serviceman and moving frequently. She attended school in Millheim, PA, Alexandria, VA, San Diego, CA, and Tampa, FL. She attended Bucknell University and graduated with an RN in Nursing from Germantown Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an OR nurse and after raising her family, she returned to the profession as a pediatric nurse.

Anne and Bill had a welcoming home, where the door was always open to family, friends, and neighbors, particularly during the holiday season. Anne was an excellent hostess, often cooking for large groups of family. Everyone enjoyed her special signature gathering time, where all were welcome to cocktails and a nosh and conversation.

A woman of diverse talents, Anne was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. She learned how to build furniture and enjoyed gardening. Her knowledge of antiques was extensive, and she collected antique furniture and furnishings. She loved dogs, and the family owned many pets over the years, including cats, geese, guinea pigs, and even a python.

Anne had a rich cultural appreciation, frequently supporting local arts organizations, including the Michener Museum, Mercer Museum, Moravian Pottery Museum, and independent cinema. Her interest in history and current events fueled engaging conversations on a variety of topics, including biographies of historical figures. She remembered small details, and she would often call family or friends to discuss events or stories that she knew to be of interest to both, and she always remembered her grandchildren’s studies and activities.

She and her husband, the late William James Wall, traveled extensively, visiting many places over the years, including Australia, Italy, Mexico, and all around the United States. Anne was very proud of her Pennsylvania heritage and her family’s Austrian/German roots. Bill and Anne enjoyed many social engagements with lifelong friends, former neighbors, and family. They raised their family in Bucks County and made their home in Doylestown in 1994.

Anne will always be remembered for her determination and resilience, her intelligence and humor, and her ability to make conversation with anyone. She was independent and hard working, and she loved her family and her home. She leaves many to cherish her memory.

The family will host a celebration of life in the spring.
