As we closed out 2025, we paused to honor a beloved and unforgettable staple of our family, whom we lost just a few days earlier.
Carol was tough, feisty, and, at times, a true pain in the butt—but that was all part of her charm. She loved fiercely. She may not always have shown it in the moment, but there was never any doubt about how much she loved her family. As we reached out to her friends, each one echoed the same sentiment: Carol adored her family. She bragged endlessly about her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She took immense pride in all of them.
Carol is survived by her 3 siblings, William Sickel; Kimberly & Vincent Smith, their children Jason & Steph Smith, Jenny & Neil Donnelly and Jamie & Matt Marlin; Holly Snyder and her children, Kelyn & Mike Simmons, Josh & Sarah Snyder, Katie & Randy Plis, Christian Snyder and Jared Snyder.
Carol loved many things—her family most of all, along with her Phillies, her cats, and of course her quilting. This past year, she made it her mission to ensure that every child in the family received a handmade quilt from her, a tangible piece of her love to remember her by. Whether or not she completed that mission, she certainly tried—she made a lot of quilts this year.
We lost Aunt Carol on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. We believe she passed peacefully in her sleep. As my sister so perfectly said, she left this world on her own terms—in her home, in her chair, surrounded by her cats and the comfort of her own space. There truly is no better way to go. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
