Our hearts are broken as we share that Charles “Chopps” Kennedy left this world far too soon on August 20, 2025, at the age of 60. Though his time here wasn’t nearly long enough, his presence was a gift that will be cherished forever.
For 41 years, he shared life with his beloved wife, Debbie (his “babe”). Their bond was truly something special—filled with devotion, explosive laughter, and unwavering care for one another. He would have done anything for her, and together they created a love story that will live on always.
Chopps spent most of his life as a heavy machine operator, a career he took great pride in. He especially loved his dozer and the bond he had with “his guys” on the job. Outside of work, his passion for sports ran deep—especially when it came to cheering on his LA Rams, playing a game himself, or sharing the excitement with anyone who would join in.
But above all, nothing brought him more joy than his family—especially his eight grandchildren, who were the very center of his world. He lit up around them, and they were his greatest pride and purest happiness.
He was admired by many, not because he tried to be anything other than himself, but because he was one of a kind. To know him was to love him, and to be loved by him was a blessing beyond measure. His smile was infectious, his laugh unforgettable, and his kindness limitless.
Though the loss feels impossible, the love he gave, the memories he created, and the joy he spread will live on in every story told, every laugh that sounds like his own, and every small act of kindness done in his memory.
Charles is survived by his mother, Ellen Kennedy; siblings Ronald (Gina) Kennedy, Debbie (Chris) Rogers, and Judy Willey; his wife, Debbie Kennedy; his three children, Angel (Ryan) Recce, Desiree (Mike) Kennedy, and Chris (Brenna) Kennedy; and his treasured grandchildren, Ethan, Mikey, Jack, Alex, Owen, Liam, Juliet, and Cooper. He was predeceased by his father, Ronald Kennedy, and brother-in-law, Raymond Willey.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Chopps’ life on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Reed & Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will greet guests beginning at 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Charles' name to the American Cancer Society.
