David P. Weston

David Peter Weston of Doylestown, PA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 10, 2026, He was 80 years old.

David was born in Cambourne, Cornwall in the United Kingdom in 1945, the son of Peter and Joyce Weston. His family lived in Venezuela throughout his elementary school years where his father was a mining engineer with Shell Oil Company. He subsequently attended boarding school in the UK and then studied chemistry at Oxford University.

David developed an interest in computers while at Oxford, and in 1967, began working as a programmer for National Westminster Bank. The following year, he met his future wife, Jean, who had gone to London to work following college in the U.S. In 1969, after he and Jean married, he joined the London office of Univac Corporation (now Unisys) as a systems analyst. The company moved David and his family to St. Paul, MN in 1975, to Salt Lake City, UT in 1981, and finally to Pennsylvania in 1986. During his career at Unisys, David worked on some of the first computerized airline reservation systems, and later did cutting-edge work on fingerprint identification and face recognition software. David took early retirement from Unisys in 1999 and joined Identix (later Visionics) located in Jersey City, NJ, specializing in biometrics and digital identity verification solutions. He retired in 2011. Following his retirement, David became an active member of the Doylestown YMCA and of the Doylestown Historical Society.

David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Skinner Weston, his children, Christopher Thomas (Beth Hurley) and Rebecca Susan (Gjergi Celo) and four grandchildren, Maya Elizabeth Ruby, Benjamin Keane Weston, Lily Inida Celo and Olivia Joy Celo.

A memorial gathering will be held in the spring.
