Donald A. Wiley, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by his two loving daughters, Barbara Bair and Carolyn Wiley. Born on December 11, 1934, in Point Pleasant, Pennsylvania, Don's life journey was filled with dedication, humor, and a deep love for his family and community.
Don began volunteering with the Civil Air Patrol as a young boy, this and his pride in his brother's military service inspired him to join the Marine Air Squadron at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station in 1952, where he served until his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corp as a sergeant in 1960.
Don's career began early when he started Wiley's Lawn Service, a venture that showcased his entrepreneurial spirit. He subsequently worked at Riegel Paper Mill and went on to establish the Donald A. Wiley Specialty Advertising Agency in 1960. His passion for these businesses never waned, as he remained actively involved until his passing.
Don married the love of his life Sharon in 1958. Shortly thereafter they started their family and moved into their beautiful custom built home in Pt. Pleasant where he still resided. Sharon and Don enjoyed raising their family, running their businesses, traveling and going to flea markets. They had 40 wonderful years together until he lost her in 1997. Don found love again with Margie Gyuricsko and they enjoyed art shows, antiquing, and spending time and decorating their Florida vacation home until he lost her in 2019.
Educated at Central Bucks High School, Don carried the values of hard work and determination throughout his life. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional endeavors; he was a charter member of the Point Pleasant Ambulance Corp and was a member of both the Point Pleasant Baptist Church and the Point Pleasant Community Association, where he built lasting connections with his community.
Don was more than just his accomplishments; he was a man of immense character, known for his warm smile and great sense of humor. Family memories with Don are cherished by those who knew him. His granddaughters, Ashley Mengel and Kelsey Mengel, could always light up his face, a testament to the love he held for them. Weekly family dinners at Barb and Ricky's home became a treasured tradition where laughter and love flourished. Those quiet moments spent in his den, where Don shared stories of his life, will remain vivid in the hearts of his family.
Don found joy in collecting art that represented Point Pleasant and the local area. He was an avid supporter of local artists, immersing himself in the vibrant culture around him. In his younger years he enjoyed riding motorcycles and in his older years he could be found tooling around the roads on his motor scooter. His interests extended to exploring art galleries, antique stores, and flea markets, where his eclectic collections grew. Don relished watching football, particularly the Eagles, and enjoyed listening to his extensive collection of CDs, while the companionship of his beloved Yorkie, Winston, kept his spirit lively.
Although he had a long and fulfilling life, the absence of those he loved dearly was always felt. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Wiley, father George Wiley, beloved wife Sharon Wiley, brother George Wiley and son-in-law Richard Bair. Each of these individuals left an indelible mark on his heart, and their memories were a lasting source of inspiration throughout his life.
As we gather to celebrate Don’s life, his funeral service will be 3 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Point Pleasant Baptist Church, 35 River Road, Point Pleasant, PA, where the family will greet guests from 2 p.m, until the time of the service. Interment will follow the service in Point Pleasant Cemetery. Community members and loved ones are encouraged to come together in honor of a remarkable man who touched the lives of many with his unwavering love, humor, and support.
Donald A. Wiley will be deeply missed but fondly remembered, not only for his contributions to his family and community but for the richness he brought to life through his passions and relationships. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his daughters, granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews, who carry forward the light he brought into their lives.
