Southampton

Edward George Bentz, affectionately known as Eddie, was born on August 15, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He left us peacefully on October 31, 2024, at Presbyterian Senior Living in Doylestown Pennsylvania, leaving behind a legacy that will undoubtedly resonate within the hearts of his loved ones and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Eddie, a devoted family man, survived by his wife Dorothy and by his children: Edward, Michelle, and Daniel. His expanded family circle, which includes daughter-in-law Maryellen, 8 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren, flourished under the warmth of his love. Family gatherings and reunions became a hallmark of Eddie's life, where the joy of gathering with his 7 brothers and 2 sisters and their families brought light and laughter, treasured memories filled with stories and shared experiences.

A proud World War II veteran, Eddie approached life with a spirit of commitment. He graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 1946, where he made enduring friendships as a member of the football team and as a runner in Cross Country, demonstrating his competitive nature and love for sports early on. His dedication to his career in metal fabrication saw him work at various companies, cementing his status as a respected and valued member of the workforce.

Eddie's kind and welcoming personality made him well-liked by all who crossed his path. With a warm smile and an easy-going demeanor, he had an innate ability to make others feel at ease. He treasured the outdoors, in fishing and crabbing at the Jersey Shore. An avid gardener, he nurtured vegetable plants and  flowers from seed in his greenhouse, his large garden overflowing with tomatoes and peppers that he generously shared with extended family members. The joy of providing fresh produce to loved ones exemplified his caring nature.

In his late 80's, Eddie embraced his adventurous spirit, traveling to multiple European countries, Alaska, and the West Coast with his son Daniel. He held a deep love for watching football and baseball.

As we bid farewell to Eddie, let us remember the joyous moments we shared, the laughter, and the beautiful life he lived. His legacy will continue through the generations who carry his memory in their hearts. Edward George Bentz touched the lives of many, and though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever remain a guiding light for his family and friends.
