Edward P. Boyle, Jr.

January 24, 1940 — May 21, 2026

Doylestown, Pennsylvania

Edward Phillip Boyle, Jr., died on May 21, 2026.

Ed was born on January 24, 1940, in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, was the beloved son of Edward and Elenore Boyle and younger brother to his sister, Elenore.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force after enlisting on May 25, 1960. Following basic training, he was stationed in Plattsburgh, New York, where he completed his service and was honorably discharged after four years.

An optician by trade, Ed’s true passion was repairing and restoring antiques. He especially loved clocks, cash registers, scales, and barber items, dedicating countless hours to bringing treasured pieces back to life. In 1989, Ed met Marie Progin, and together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and shared passions. After several years in New Jersey, they returned to Pennsylvania in 2000 and settled in Doylestown, where they purchased their dream home — an 1800s farmhouse with a barn. Together, they lovingly restored the farmhouse and built an addition using reclaimed wood and beams from a nearby local barn.

In 2004, Ed and Marie opened Buckland Antiques in the barn on their property. For more than 20 years, Ed welcomed visitors daily, restored antiques, and became a cherished friend to all who met him. Buckland Antiques grew into a well-known destination for antique lovers throughout Bucks County.

Ed became a grandfather in June 2006 with the birth of his first grandchild, Payton. He adored being a grandfather and was always ready for dress-up games on the deck or tractor rides around the property. In 2009, his second grandchild, Jeffery, was born, and Ed devoted himself wholeheartedly to both grandchildren. He never missed a dance recital, play, or sporting event, always showing his unwavering love and support.

Ed and Marie shared a love for New England, skiing, and road trips that often ended with a trailer full of antiques making its way back home.

Ed was predeceased by Ian Progin, who was like a son to him. He is survived by his son, Daniel, his sister, Elenore, his nephew, Stephen, his daughter-in-law, Courtney Progin, his beloved grandchildren, Payton and Jeffery Progin and his longtime partner, Marie Progin.

He will be remembered for his quiet, gentle nature, his craftsmanship, his love of family, and the kindness he showed to everyone who crossed his path.
