Elaine King Benner, 87, of Ambler, PA, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026. She was born on October 13, 1938, in Ambler, one of fourteen children raised by parents who owned and ran King & Betz, a beloved neighborhood grocery store at the corner of Lindenwold and Greenwood Avenues. Elaine and her siblings grew up working alongside their parents at the store, and the corner remained a source of cherished family memories throughout her life.
As a young teenager, Elaine lost her leg to cancer. True to the spirit that would define her, she refused to let this slow her down—she continued to dance, play, and live a full and joyful life. Her infectious smile and unshakable positive attitude touched everyone who knew her, and she never let her handicap define her.
Elaine went on to build two successful careers, serving as Vice President at both Girard Bank and Young Wheel & Casters, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues along the way. Elaine also deeply valued her time as a member, and weekly volunteer, at Lenape Valley Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale Benner, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Together, they loved traveling throughout Pennsylvania and New England, hunting for antique treasures along the way.
Elaine is survived by her stepdaughters and their husbands, Kerry and James Udinski and Cindy and Robert Boone, along with six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She cherished time spent with her sisters, her card club friends, and rooting for the Phillies.
Elaine's warmth, resilience, and love of life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 4, 2026, Lenape Valley Church, 321 W. Butler Avenue, New Britain. A reception will follow the service.
