Ephe A. Olliver, 90, of Doylestown PA passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025. He was a devoted family man and cherished friend, who was loved by all who knew him.
Born on June 13, 1935, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, to the late Ephe M. and Ardee Grey Olliver. Ephe’s family moved frequently before settling in Concordville, PA, where he spent most of his childhood. He attended and graduated from West Chester High School in 1952 before attending Penn State University. Shortly after college began, he entered Naval flight training as a cadet, earning his “wings of gold.” He spent 18 months aboard the USS Saratoga and USS Essex. His tour of duty concluded in 1958, and he returned to Penn State, graduating three years later with a BA in Liberal Arts. Ephe re-entered the Navy as a flight instructor and a member of the Admiral’s staff. His final tour of duty was with an A4D squadron, initially deployed in the Mediterranean Sea, ending in 1965. After leaving the Navy, Ephe transitioned to the private sector, working as a commercial airline pilot for TWA until his retirement in 1995.
During his retirement, Ephe enjoyed his regular visits to the Doylestown YMCA, where he found a beloved community and many lifelong friends. He was also a contributing member of the Friends of the Heart Institute and often participated in their monthly "walk with a doc." Ephe was an avid investor, and with his knowledge, he volunteered as a financial consultant for the Doylestown Nature Club. His zest for life was evident in his annual ski trips to Vermont, which he took with friends and family until his mid-80s. Ephe enjoyed many Friday lunches and Sunday breakfasts with his "Fly Boys." He was a true family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Ephe could often be spotted at cross country and track events, enthusiastically cheering on his grandkids.
Ephe was known for his witty, unique sense of dry humor, as well as his caring and genuine nature. He left a positive impression on everyone he met and will be deeply missed by many. Ephe treasured the time spent with his beloved wife, Roberta “Bonnie” (Maier) Olliver, to whom he was married for 58 years. Together, they built a warm and loving home.
Ephe is survived by his wife, his three children, Michael Olliver (Linda), Jeanne Olliver, and Thomas Olliver (Vickie), and his cherished grandchildren, Carolyn and Kyle Smith. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren through his extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2025 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown where the family will greet guests from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. Interment will be private.
