Kevin A. Cody

Kevin A. Cody, a Doylestown resident for 60 years, passed away at Lakeview Assisted Living on August 8, 2026. He was 96.

Kevin was raised in Queens, New York, the fifth of seven boys born to Irish immigrants Patrick and Mary (née Jordan) Cody. He shared an inspiring partnership with Corinne, his beloved wife of 58 years, who predeceased him in 2012. He was the cherished patriarch of a large and devoted family, including his children: Marya Kolman of Westerville, Ohio; Jolene Cody Pastoor (Art) of Murrieta, California; Neal Cody (Helenmary) of Woodbine, Maryland; Kieran Cody (Maureen McGrath Zimmerman) of Doylestown; Annice Cody (Peter Braverman) of Bethesda, Maryland; and Judy Chang Cody of Doylestown. Kevin is also survived by 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Kevin was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen and Brendan, who each died shortly after birth; his parents and brothers Ed, Jack, Phil, Don, Larry and Leo; and his daughter-in-law, Dottie Painter.

Kevin earned his A.B. from Fordham University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from New York University. He began his professional career as a physical therapist treating polio patients at the New York State Rehabilitation Hospital (now Helen Hayes Hospital) in Rockland County, New York. He subsequently served as an Associate Research Scientist and Assistant Project Director in prosthetic research at New York University's Tandon School of Engineering and later as Senior Research Scientist and Project Manager in the Department of Rehabilitation at Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Kevin began his career in academics as a Professor of Physical Therapy and Director of Graduate Studies at Temple University. He was instrumental in establishing the allied health program at the University of the Sciences (formerly the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science), first as Professor and Chair of Physical Therapy and later as Dean of the College of Health Sciences. Upon his retirement, he was named Professor Emeritus.

Kevin made the most of his retirement, traveling with Corinne and his family, playing with and reading to his grandchildren, and enjoying family dinners, always beginning the meal with the traditional Irish toast, Sláinte! He was also an engaged community volunteer, serving on the Board of Directors of Foundations Behavioral Health, as a member of the United Way Allocations Committee, and as an adult literacy instructor with Vita Education Services. For 19 years, Kevin volunteered as a patient advocate in the prescription medication assistance program at the Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic.

Friends and family are invited to call at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown, on Friday, August 14 from 5:00 to 7:00. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 15 at 10:30, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, followed by burial at Doylestown Cemetery, 215 East Court Street.
