Lorene Garrison Mowen, 91

Lorene (Lori) Garrison Mowen, age 91, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Lori was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and a tireless advocate for the community.

Lori was one of five children and lived her formative years in Denver, Colorado. Lori was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack Mowen, and her siblings Geri Stutheit, Eleanor Dwight, and Ken Garrison. She is survived by her brother Lon Garrison Sr. and his wife Joyce of Whidbey Island, Washington. She leaves behind three devoted sons: Michael of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Douglas and his partner Olivia Solini of Williston, Vermont; and Keith and his wife Brenda of Clearwater, Florida; as well as four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

As a graduate of University of Northern Colorado with a degree in education and nutrition, Lori began her career teaching junior high school in Bend Oregon before moving to Alaska where she met and married Jack, the love of her life and welcomed their first son, Michael. Their journey took them across the country to Sacramento, California, where Douglas was born, and to Acton, Massachusetts, where Keith completed their family. In 1969, they settled in Doylestown, which became their long-time home and the heart of Lori’s rich and impactful life. In Doylestown, she co-founded Personnel Services Incorporated (PSI), an employment agency that served both employers and job seekers for over two decades

Lori was a passionate and engaged community leader. She served as President of the League of Women Voters, sat on several boards including Doylestown Hospital, and was a devoted member and Elder of Doylestown Presbyterian Church. Her leadership and compassion touched many lives and left a lasting legacy in her community.

She will be remembered for her intelligence, warmth, deep faith, and unwavering commitment to the people and places she loved. Her family and friends will cherish her memory always. A memorial service will be held at Doylestown Presbyterian Church On August 2nd, 2025 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Doylestown Presbyterian Church.
