Maureen Gavaghan Arnold

December 17, 1963 — October 1, 2025

Chalfont, Pennsylvania

Maureen Arnold, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Chalfont, Pennsylvania, at the age of 61. She was surrounded by her immediate family. Born on December 17, 1963, in Abington, Pennsylvania, she lived a life marked by an unwavering spirit and a dedication to those she loved.

Maureen grew up in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Upper Dublin High School in 1981. During her time there, she was a dedicated member of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams. One of the years she competed, her team was honored with induction into the UDHS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Maureen proudly earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Risk Management from La Salle University in 1985. During her time there, she became a founding sister of Gamma Phi Beta and was an active participant in the university’s athletic programs, excelling in Cross Country and Track and Field. She also served as the secretary to the Men’s Basketball Head Coach in her senior year. Most importantly, La Salle is where she met her lifelong partner, Scott. Maureen and Scott had season tickets to the La Salle Basketball team and enjoyed attending games together.

For the past 33 years, Maureen cultivated a remarkable career at Harford Mutual Insurance Group as a Business Development Specialist, where she stood out as one of their top producers. Her professionalism and ability to forge lasting business relationships earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Maureen was not just a professional; she was a woman who relished the joys of life. She loved spending precious moments with her family, whether for a walk, returning to her favorite destinations or embarking on new adventures, enjoying meals together, or gathering over the holidays. Her passion for life encompassed a multitude of interests – from attending parties, Broadway shows, and concerts, to sharing laughs over book club selections and exploring local ale trails. Maureen’s home away from home—and her favorite place to visit—was the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where she spent nearly her entire life making memories with family and friends.

A woman of strong character, Maureen was a beacon of love and loyalty. Her caring nature extended beyond her family and friends to her community, where she exemplified altruism and devotion. She was deeply devoted to supporting Bethel Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia through many acts of service. One of her most impactful contributions was organizing an annual coat drive, which provided thousands of warm coats to individuals and families in need each fall, just in time for the winter season. Her generosity and commitment to service also led her to contribute meals to Doylestown Presbyterian Church, where she also served as a Deacon, Elder, and leader of the the women’s committee.

Maureen is survived by her beloved husband, Scott Arnold; her two sons who she fiercely loved: Colin Arnold and Ben Arnold; her daughter-in-law, Jillian Arnold, married to Ben; her brothers: Sean Gavaghan and James Gavaghan; her sister-in-law, Michelle, married to Jamie; and her father, James Gavaghan, Sr., who was married to the late Patricia Gavaghan. She was deeply loved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Maureen will forever be remembered for her vibrant strength, passionate spirit, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Gavaghan, and her in-laws, Charles and Susan Arnold. As we reflect on Maureen’s life, we celebrate her legacy of love, laughter, and a profound capacity to touch the hearts of everyone who knew her. In the tapestry of life that she wove, Maureen will remain a thread of kindness, inspiration, and unwavering support, dearly missed but forever cherished.
