Phyllis Rick Arrowood of Doylestown, PA passed away on April 20,2026 at her home. Phyllis was born February 19, 1952 to Frank and Rose Rick of Ferndale, PA.
After graduating from Palisades High School, Kintnersville, PA she went on to study and received Certificate in Study Computer Systems Programming and Operations and became employed at the Bucks County Court House in the data processing/ computer center for a time early in her marriage, and later changed careers and became a sales associate at Herb’s Hobby & Crafts store in Doylestown for over 30 years.
In May of 1980, she married Earl R. Arrowood, Jr., of Doylestown, degrees earned in culinary arts as well as in hospitality, restaurant and foodservice management. Phyllis and Earl were married for 45 years until her passing. They had no children, however; shared life with four cats during that time. Phyllis was an expert at the sewing machine making dresses, carry totes, as well as novelty catnip toys. She read a lot. She collected frogs of all kinds. She was a wonderful home baker, cook, and very capable of keeping “chef” Earl out of the kitchen while she was in it.
They always travelled together attending various professional culinary, hospitality and foodservice related conferences and conventions, visiting cities and places all over the United States. For 30 years, they actively volunteered as Certified Powerlifting Coaches to Bucks County Special Olympics athletes who wanted to “ lift heavy things and put them down”! Retiring in 2019, they both began volunteering at Wycombe Winery in Furlong, PA, and post COVID, enjoyed harvesting of the grapes weekends so they could cook, grill and serve BBQ lunches to the volunteer grape pickers.
Phyllis was predeceased by her mother and father as well as two older brothers.
She carried her pain quietly.
Phyllis was a thoughtful person and an introspective, caring and loving aunt and great-aunt to many.
Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 11:00 - noon, Reed & Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown. To celebrate Phyllis' life, all those in attendance will have the opportunity to share memories and stories at noon. A reception will follow.
