Sal Pultro, a beloved figure to many and a cherished member of his family, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, at Doylestown Hospital with his family by his side, at the remarkable age of 96. Born on May 5, 1929, in Philadelphia, Sal lived a life marked by service, dedication, and the warmth of his engaging spirit. His plan was to become a priest, until he met the love of his life, Clara Fiorino. They were happily married for 67 years until her passing in 2017.
A proud Army Veteran of the Korean War, Sal exemplified valor and sacrifice during a pivotal time in history. Following his military service, he ventured into the telecommunications industry, devoting many years as a Customer Service Manager. His career was defined by his commitment to excellence and a genuine care for the needs of others, a trait that would define his relationships far beyond the workplace.
Sal's educational journey began at North Catholic High School, and he later attended Temple University—a foundation that would serve him well in both his personal and professional endeavors. He was not just an accomplished individual; he was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather whose legacy will undoubtedly resonate through the lives of his family.
His passions extended to the Doylestown YMCA, where he was affectionately known among the early Sunrise Gang as a consummate swimmer for almost 40 years. His vibrant presence and genuine camaraderie fostered friendships that brought joy to many. Sal also found joy in the kitchen, viewing baking not merely as a task, but as an art form. He often said a recipe was just a suggestion—an embodiment of his creative spirit. His love for baking was most vividly expressed through a heartwarming tradition shared with his late wife, Clara. Together, they adopted a class at St. Jude’s Catholic School, ensuring that each month from 1st through 8th grade, the students received homemade chocolate chip cookies. After Clara's passing in 2017, Sal honored that cherished tradition, continuing to spread sweetness and joy to young hearts.
Sal leaves behind a close-knit family who will carry his memory with them always. He is survived by his sons, Bob Pultro (Pat) and Michael Pultro (Kim) his daughter, Debbie Dietrick; and his grandchildren, Brian Pultro (Lauren) Kristin Pultro (Kyle), Tate Pultro, Tyler Pultro, Brittany Dietrick, Shannon Pultro (Rich), and Sarah Kloss (Joe). Additionally, Sal is lovingly remembered by his five great-grandchildren, Thomas, Jackson, Mason, Dylan, and Kadence who brought additional light into his life.
A visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at St. Jude Church and Shrine, 321 West Butler Ave., Chalfont, followed by Mass at 11 a.m.
As we gather to celebrate Sal’s remarkable life, let us remember the warmth of his embrace, the twinkle in his eye and the kindness he bestowed upon everyone fortunate enough to know him. Sal Pultro may have departed from this world, but his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
