Stanley F. Peters, M.D., FAAFP (Fellow of American Academy of Family Practice) joined his heavenly Father on May 30, 2025. He was 89 years old.
He was predeceased by his wife of over 40 years Mary Jane (Martin) Peters, and his children: Julie Peters and Rick Peters, as well as his parents, Allen and Helena Peters, and his sisters: La Rue Peters, and June (Peters) Henofer.
He is survived by his remaining children: Kevin (Kristy) Peters, Jan (Jon) Loux, Glenn (Debbie) Peters and Tom Peters, 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Stanley and Mary Jane had nine children of which six were adopted and they were foster parents to over twenty other children. After Mary Jane’s death, Stanley was blessed to find Jane Fox, who shared many adventures until the end.
Stanley graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia, Ursinus College (1958 with a B.S. in biology), Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine (1958-1962 with his M.D) and Abington Memorial Hospital (rotating internship, 1963). Stanley was a Co-founder and served for 13 years as Medical Director of T.O.D.A.Y. Inc. (an alcohol and drug treatment center in Newtown, Pa.) Stan was a permanent member of the Doylestown Hospital Medical and Pediatric staff, American Medical Association, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Pennsylvania Academy of Family Practice, Bucks County Medical Society (Past President, 1973), Jefferson Medical College Family Practice Department, Friend of the Courts (Bucks County) Certified by examination as specialist in Family Practice (1989). Stanley was chosen as Humanitarian for the year 1978 by the Chamber of Commerce.
Stanley was honorably discharged as Captain, Medical Officer of the 4074th Army Reserve (1962-1972).
He retired from his medical practice in 2013, after 51 years as a family doctor in the Doylestown and Greater Bucks area. Stanley’s greatest reward as he practiced medicine, was seeing his patients get well. A thought that always reminded him of his practice was: “As we grow older, more of our patients become friends and more of our friends become patients.” If he is remembered as a doctor who cared, then he was truly blessed.
He enjoyed saltwater fishing, the beach, and the boardwalk of Wildwood. Along with gardening, science, medicine and church, especially the Dawn Patrol (part of Jesus Focus).
