Thomas J. Barnett

September 4, 1930 — November 14, 2025

Thomas Joseph Bernard Barnett, "Bebop”, 95, of Doylestown, passed away at Doylestown Hospital, surrounded by his family on Friday, November 14, 2025. Born in Philadelphia on September 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Thomas Joseph Barnett and Eva (Braun) Breitmaier. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine (Leitenberger), and sister, Margaret O’Toole.

Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. Following his time in the Army, Tom graduated from Drexel Institute of Technology, now Drexel University. He worked in the aerospace industry at Aydin Vector and later Teletronics Technology Corporation.

His passions included a love of nature, space, following NASA launches and programs, science, virtual bird watching, and rooting for the Phillies and Eagles.

As a member of Doylestown United Methodist Church he taught the high school Sunday School class, and was involved in the bowling and softball leagues. Tom was also a member of Doylestown Post 175 VFW, the Military Order Of Pine Run, and the Society of the Honor Guard, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (SHGTUS).

In his later years, Tom devoted his energy to the design and creation of the Never Forget Garden at Pine Run Village, Ferry Road, Doylestown. This was a project conceived by the Tomb Guard Association asking its members to establish these gardens across the country in observance of the 100 year anniversary of the establishment of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

He will be deeply missed by each of his family members. Tom is survived by his daughters Donna Blizzard (the late John), Carol Rorabaugh (Mark), and Lisa Barnett-Gilbert (Glenn); his grandchildren Kelly Pearson (Matthew), Christine Blizzard-Wrobel (Ian), Dan Rorabaugh (Marrian), and Kevin Rorabaugh (Sharadan); great-grandchildren, Jack, Owen, and Grace Pearson, John and Matthew Wrobel, and Thomas, Natalie, and Helen Rorabaugh. He is also survived by his brother William Breitmaier (Ruthann), as well as many nieces and nephews.
