Donald C. Smith Jr. of Churchville died on Thursday, May 16, 2024. He was 84 years old and the husband for 61 years of Linda B. Smith.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Donald C. Smith and Aurdrey Nelson Smith. Don grew up in Port Washington, New York and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Don attended Mount Lebanon High School, where he met Linda and they became high school sweethearts. He attended Cornell University and Allegheny College, graduating with a bachelors degree in economics. While at Cornell, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Upon graduation from college, Don was hired at Armco Steel to be a senior district sales representative. He spent his entire career selling steel in the Northeast Region, with his home being in the Philadelphia area. Don also served in the Army and Air Force Reserves.

Don’s favorite pastime was playing golf. He was a proud member of Commonwealth National Golf Club in Horsham, PA, and Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. It was a great honor when he served as a marshal at The Players Championship one year.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Lisa Bogle, her husband, Michael Bogle, Kristin Chelius, her husband, Kyle Chelius, and Julie Wetherill. her husband, Dale Wetherill, Jr. Don is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Caroline Bogle, Evan Bogle, Claire Chelius, Larissa Chelius, Jessica Wetherill, Dale Wetherill, III , and Danny Wetherill.

Friends and family are invited to his funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2325 Lower State Road, Doylestown, where the family will greet guest from 10 a.m., until the time of the service. Interment will be private.
