Eileen D. Rumell

Eileen D. (Bender) Rumell of Doylestown, passed away surrounded by her loving husband and children on March 1, 2022 at the young age of 76.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Strotbeck) Bender.

Eileen was a graduate of Northeast High School and received a Liberal Arts degree from Hanover College in Indiana.

Known for her great sense of style and pristine appearance, she loved spending time with friends and family. Holidays were treasured events and she loved attending local festive activities with her family. She loved decorating her house and each season was uniquely represented. Eileen was an excellent teacher and enjoyed tutoring her grandchildren especially in math. She loved volunteering at school when her children were young and was heavily involved in the Art Goes to School program. She had many talents including wrapping presents in the most intricate way and making beautiful bows from ribbon. With her warm smile and bright blue eyes she was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, George Rumell; her children: Tara Pelino, Edward Rumell and Heather Sturtevant; her grandchildren: Paityn Eileen Sturtevant, Carys Pelino and Camryn Sturtevant; her brother, Edward Bender (Karen), her sister, Cheryl Suchodolski, her nephews: Derrick Bender (Lee) and Gregory Suchodolski (Katie); her nieces: Kimberly Noll (Joseph), Leslie Kortenhaus (Michael) and Laurie Cortes (Jorge), as well as her aunt, Audrey Bender, and cousins: Joy McCabe (Paul), Merri Brown (Drew), Christine Hagelgans (Bill) and Holly Fokin (Yuri).

Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service at 11 a.m., Friday, March 11 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Road, Ivyland, PA 18974, where the family will greet guests from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Philadelphia.
