Gloria F. (Keyser) Moelter, of Doylestown, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021. She was 87 years old.
Born in Lahaska, she was the daughter of the late Ernest J. and Irma H. (Schmidt) Keyser. Gloria was especially proud of the 170-year history of the Schmidt family in Lahaska, Philadelphia and LaMott, Pennsylvania.
Gloria moved to Doylestown in 1942 and was a member of the last graduating class of Doylestown High School in 1951. She was also a graduate of Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont, where she met her dear friends, the late Jean and Joan Moelter of New York and their brother, Don. Married in 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doylestown, “Gordy” and Don were together for more than 52 years, until Don’s death in 2007. After residing in Warminster, Doylestown and Fort Myers, Florida, Gordy and Don are once again together.
Gloria loved Doylestown and Bucks County. She was a homemaker, real-estate agent and long-time member of the Village Improvement Association (VIA) of Doylestown, Doylestown Questers and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Reading and spending her days on the beaches of New Jersey and Florida with family and friends were among Gloria’s favorite past-times.
Gloria is survived by two her sons: Donald W. Moelter Jr. and Stephen T. Moelter (Kathleen), of Doylestown; five grandchildren: Donna Rhodes (Matthew) of Waynesboro, Krista Moelter of Ambler, Danielle Pallozzi (Timothy) of Annville and Owen and Noah Moelter of Doylestown as well as her great-grandchildren: Wesley, William, Isabella, Joseph, Emmett, Hailey and Peyton who will remember swimming, sunshine and treats while visiting their beloved “Gigi”. Gloria is also survived by her brother, James W. Keyser, of New Hope and her niece and nephew, Jennifer Moore and James Keyser Jr. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest L. “Bud” Keyser, in 2020.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gloria’s funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Doylestown. Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery. Those who are unable to gather indoors at this time are encouraged to join the family for interment.
