After the sale of the store, she worked as a Minute Clerk for Judge John Rufe at the Bucks County Courthouse until her retirement in 2005. She formed lasting friendships with her colleagues and would share funny stories with her children.

Ruth was a member of the Doylestown High School reunion committee and volunteered as a Girl Scout troop leader and Cookie Chairperson, a Brownie troop leader and a Cub Scout den mother. She also served on the Central Bucks High School prom committee.

She enjoyed knitting, attending book club meetings and entertaining her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
